NCP builts vessels for Norwegian market
NCP Repair Shipyard Šibenik, Croatia, agreed a build of up to 15 vessels during next five years for Norwegian company Nordic AquaBoats AS. The client for six months in the same time negotiated with Chinese shipbuilders, but despite their extraordinary competitiveness, product quality offered by NCP was crucial for obtaining the contract. So far, the working boats NAB CAT 13.5 and NAB CAT 15 were produced exclusively in China and Norway, and now the knowledge of Croatian boatbuilders will be integrated in these two models. Also, the great importance lies in the fact that with this agreement NCP Repair Shipyard entered the Norwegian market - one of the richest countries in the world where the fishing and shipping industry, after oil and gas, are two most represented industries in the growth of national GDP-a.

The first catamaran NAB CAT 13.5 will be delivered within five months, and by the end of next year the build of three vessels is expected. NAB CAT vessels are aluminum catamarans 13 and 15 meters long, used in fish firming industry. They are characterized by a large working area equipped with a crane, and each model will have John Deere engines with the power of 2x330 HP. The main purpose of this workboat is a supply and maintenance of fish farming which is one of the fastest growing industries in Norway. The fishfarming industry in Norway is focusing on salmonfarming and in a 20 years perspective this industry has expanded from 20.000 ton/year to 850.000 ton/year of salmon growing. This expansion has resulted in bigger farming-cages and the cages has been moved out to more weather-exposed seaconditions. This is resulting in an increasing demand for bigger and more robust workboats for professional further expansion of the industry. Quality of these workboats is of great importance and NCP Repair Shipyard found its opportunity in this norvegian market expansion.
Co-operation of the NCP and the Nordic Aqua Boats is realized thanks to CroNoMar company, based in Sibenik. It is an innovative company that was founded with the aim of identifying and creating new business opportunities through projects with Norwegian and Croatian partners, in which a young team led by Malvin Villabo is making an excellent progress. Nordic Aqua Boats AS is a brokerage company engaged in the construction and purchase of ships for its clients, among which are mainly fishing clusters from Norway, Scotland and Ireland. |
