NCP REPAIR SHIPYARD RECEIVED THE ROYAL VISIT FROM KING HARALD V AND QUEEN SONJA OF NORWAY

Despite the fact that Royal visit happened on notorious Friday 13th of May it brought luck to NCP Repair Shipyard and the city of Sibenik! Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway make only two official visits abroad every year and due to the expanding commercial relation between Norway and Croatia, in this one they were accompanied by 80 Norwegian businessmen. 

Together with the President of The Republic of Croatia, Mr Ivo Josipović, king Harald and Queen Sonja officially proclaimed the opening of iNavis center – Sibenik Maritime Innovative Centre – which is a common project of the Norwegian Government and City of Sibenik. The project is led by Croatian – Norwegian company Cronomar based in Sibenik, and the intention is to gather at one place existing companies and potential new companies related to maritime sector, in order to expand the networking between them.

Afterwards the Royal couple arrived in NCP Repair Shipyard Sibenik where Queen Sonja launched two catamarans built by this shipyard for Norwegian market. During the launching ceremony the built of new series of four NAB CAT vessels was announced.

Catamarans named Haelge and Hedda are already third and fourth built catamarans, model NAB CAT, from the series of 15 contracted in 2010 for Nordic Aqua Boats AS - a brokerage company engaged in the construction and purchase of ships for its clients, among which are mainly fishing clusters from Norway, Scotland and Ireland.

NAB CAT vessels are aluminium catamarans used in fish-firming industry. Catamarans are 13,5 meters long with 7,5 meters beam and 2,5 meters draft. They are characterized by a large working area equipped with a crane, and each model will have John Deere engines, 2x330 HP.  

Considering the intensive growth o Norwegian fishing market the number of fishing farms has grown and are usually located distant from the coast and exposed to inconvenient weather conditions so the high quality is crucial for these vessels.

After the official part of the Royal visit, entrepreneurs of both countries participated at the conference discussing the modalities for enlarging the common collaboration and the concurrency of Croatian boatbuilding industry.
